Jianshui Old City (建水古城, Jiànshuǐ Gǔchéng) – a 1,200-year-old national historic and cultural city in Honghe, Yunnan, known as the “Confucian Heart of Southern Yunnan” and “Museum of Ancient Architecture”.

Location: 200km south of Kunming, Honghe Prefecture; ancient name Lin’an (临安).

History: Founded 810 AD (Tang Nanzhao); political/cultural heart of southern Yunnan for 700+ years.

Nicknames: “Literary State of Southern Yunnan (滇南邹鲁)”, “Land of Ancient Wells”, “Capital of Yunnan Purple Pottery”.
