Journey with Purpose: Our Tibetan-Led Ethos

                                                     A Letter from Our Founder

“Tashi Delek.

My name is Tenzin, and I was born in a nomad family near the shores of Lake Namtso. As a child, I learned that every mountain has a spirit (ཡུལ་ལྷ yullha), every spring is guarded by a ཀླུ lu, and that our survival depended on respecting these delicate balances. This isn’t folklore—it’s the original environmental ethic.

When I founded Tibet World Travel, it was with one core belief: Tourism must honor what my ancestors protected. We don’t ‘operate tours’—we extend careful invitations into our living home. Every itinerary we craft is measured against a simple question: Will this help Tibet’s soul and soil thrive for the next generation?

This is our sacred responsibility. Join us in traveling not just to see, but to safeguard.”

Tenzin Wangyal, Founder & Chief Steward

Our Three Sacred Commitments

1. To the Land: Travel as Pilgrimage, Not Exploitation

We treat Tibet’s landscapes as sacred geography, not a backdrop.

On the Trail: We follow ‘Yang Yul’ (the clean land) principle. Our guides carry reusable waste bags, and we leave every site cleaner than we found it. All group treks include a dedicated “stewardship hour” for trail cleanup.

Low-Impact Logistics: We use high-efficiency vehicles on fixed routes to minimize grassland erosion.

At monasteries and holy lakes, we enforce strict, culturally-informed guidelines: no loud noises, restricted photography where requested, and mandatory clockwise circumambulation (kora) to show respect.

2. To Our Communities: Tourism as a Lifeline, Not a Commodity

We ensure the economic heartbeat of tourism strengthens local Tibetan society.

The Homestay Network: We arrange as much as our overnight stays are in vetted family homestays or small, locally-owned lodges. We equip families with training and solar heaters, ensuring comfort while keeping benefits hyper-local.

Guide & Staff Policy: 100% of our guides and drivers are Tibetan, born in the regions they guide. They receive fair wages, healthcare stipends, and annual training in first aid, conservation biology, and cultural history.

3. To Our Wildlife: Becoming Guardians, Not Disturbers

We actively participate in protecting Tibet’s fragile ecosystems.

Climate-Conscious Itineraries:  We champion the train and slow overland travel.
