1. Plan in Advance
All the Tibet tours are must be reserved in advance at least 20 days before your travel date. It is because all the groups (private tour group or join in group) need to issue Tibet Travel Permit. It takes at least 14 days from the day you confirmed the tour.
2. How we apply your Tibet Travel Permit.
Once you confirmed the tour with us. You need to provide us the copy of your valid China visa. Passport. Tour details you are going to do in Tibet and the receipt of your tour deposit. Once we got the above travel document. We can start process your Tibet Travel Permit easily.
3. Train into Tibet and take fly to out.
Most of the travel agencies recommend to take fly into Tibet. But its too hard to adjust with high altitude once you take fly to Tibet. Instead we high recommend you to take train to Tibet because you will be fully acclimatized once you arrive Lhasa. (Note: You may need to pay a commission fee for the train ticket since its highly demanding most of time)
4. Tibet Tour rules and regulations are unpredictable.
The rules and regulations for Tibet tours are changing unpredictably every year. End of February to End of March is closed every year for all the foreign traveler。
5. All the tours must be in arranged or organized tour from a local travel agency.
All the travelers can not be travel by their own and they must be travel with your guide while you visit the monasteries. Temples and all the tourist sites. When you take a tour for outside Lhasa. You must be in a hired car and the guide. All the travelers can not take public transportation.
6. When is the best time to travel Tibet.
Most of the Chinese Travel agencies suggest that May to October is the best travel time for Tibet. But we believe that winter time is also the best time to travel to Tibet because fewer tourist. More local Tibetan pilgrims. Clear sky.
7. Limited accommodation.
All the foreigners are not allowed to stay whichever hotels or Guesthouse they like. They must be staying at the hotels which are proved by the government. Which called foreign authorized hotel or Guesthouse here. Which means there is no much options for hotels in Tibet.
8. Another Tibet Nepal border(Kyirong or Gyirong port) is reopened.
Tibet Nepal border at Zhangmu is closed since 2015 earthquake in Nepal. But there is another port at Kyirong or Gyirong is reopened already from 1st September 2017. and now Tibet to Nepal overland tours can be done from Lhasa to Kathmandu.
