Martsang Drak Gon is a monastery in Amdo that is said to have been founded by Lachen Gongpa Rabsel in the tenth century. It was converted to the Geluk tradition in 1584. It is located at Baima village, Huzhu county 35km east of Xining, Qinghai province.
The temple built on a cliff on the bases of some caves used to do meditations by the Lachen Gongpa Rabsel and the three scholars escaped from center Tibet during the persecution of Buddhism in Tibet by the last king of Tibet.
Car can be accessible just below the temple and if you follow the dirt road to temple, you will first see a little Buddha which is curved into rock below the cliff.
And then follow the road to first temple in the first floor. There are some murals and fresco. The center image is a Lungta and the two sides are different colors of Dzambalas.
Second floor is a little bit bigger than the first floor in terms of width, here you can see a statue of Lhalung Paldor on the left of the temple and Je rinpoche and his two disciples on the center.
Third floor is the main temple and also the original cave where Lachen Gongpa Rabsel meditated.
