Lower Wutunsi (Sanggeshung Mago) སེང་གེ་གཤོང་མ་འགོ།

Lower Wutunsi(Ch) is called Sanggeshung Mago Ganden Phuntsok ling monastery in Tibetan and it is located about 7km from the famous Rongwo monastery of Rebkong. The village where the monastery located also called Sanggeshung Mago. Originally it was a small temple in which the local people worship few statues of Buddha made from the clay. And later a famous Buddhist scholar named Dongkor Gyatso built the monastery in 1697. He also offered the name of the monastery and a statue of Palden Lhamo to the monastery. With a reputation of its Thangka paintings in the Tibetan world, most the the monk’s houses are built as a small studio of Thangka paintings. Where they are using the traditional way of painting and the most of the materials used for the paintings are precious stones from high mountains. Currently there are 320 monks living in the monastery. The monastery contains many halls like Assemble hall. Matreiya Temple. Tsongkapa Temple and Avalokeshriva Temple. The monastery also have famous Buddhist and Shaman festivals celebrating in mid summer and during Tibetan new year.
