The famous Iayuguan Pass or Jiayuguan Fortress is the west start point of China’s Great Wall. At the base of Jiayu Mountain Situates the legendary Jiayuguan Pass known as the most strategic point along the ancient Silk Road. The whole fortress was built in the year 1372 during the Ming Dynasty and is encompassed by magnificently designed towers that exude landscape views from all directions. It is home to Jiuquan Iron and Steel group, the largest company of its kind in Northwest China. The city was established in 1965 and became an integral part of the Eurasian Continental Bridge. It set up Changcheng, Jingtie and Xiongguan districts in December 2009. The city covers an area of 3,000 square kilometers, with a planned downtown area of 260 sq km. It has a population of 230,000 and an urbanization rate of 93.9 percent.
