Gading or Ganden Monastery དགའ་ལྡན་དགོན་པ།

Gading Monastery is located 10 kilometers east of Modoung village of Nangchen. It was founded in 1300 AD by Puchong Randing, a disciple of the Barong Kagyu Sect, and converted to the Nyingma Sect in 1536.

In the year of 1652, the fifth Dalai Lama Lobsang Gyatso returned to Tibet from Beijing and passed through Yushu. Gading monastery was converted into a Gelug sect temple, named, and a Khenpo was sent Support temple affairs. The temple is mainly dedicated to Tsongkhapa. In the late years, the seventh Dalai Lama also visited this monastery.
