Ba Lhakar Dzong or Shangri La Grand Canyon is located in Nixi Township, Shangri La County, Dechen Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is situated in the central hinterland of the Hongshan area, a world natural heritage site with three parallel rivers. The canyon is deep and narrow, with a wall height of over 1000 meters, the widest point is about 80 meters, and the narrowest point is only over 10 meters. It features the Ba Lhakar Snow Mountain, towering canyons, Crystal clear plateau lakes, alpine pastures, and Tibetan villages. The only village in the Balhakar Shangri La Grand Canyon is called Balha village.
